LIBRARY HOURS POLICY

The Hennessey Public Library complies with the State Aid Rules and Regulations for State Aid Grants to Public Libraries adopted April 1, 1999 by the Oklahoma Department of Libraries Governing Board. The rule regarding library hours states:

cities and towns with at least 2,000 but less than 5,000 people will be open 30 hours a week. The schedule will include at least two hours after 5 p.m. each week and three hours on Saturday. . .

I.  REGULAR LIBRARY HOURS:

POLICY STATEMENT:  The Hennessey Public Library will be open 9am to 6 pm, Monday through Thursday and  10am-1pm on Saturday, for a total of 39 hours, 4 of which are after 5 p.m. each week and three of which are on Saturday.

II.  HOLIDAY HOURS:

POLICY STATEMENT:  The Hennessey Public Library will observe holiday closings as set forth by the Town of Hennessey.  Because regular library hours exceed the minimum requirement set by the Oklahoma Department of Libraries, the library will be closed for additional hours on holiday Saturdays and both Christmas and Thanksgiving Eve.

Saturday Holiday:  The Hennessey Public Library will be closed on the Saturday following a Friday or preceding a Monday when the Town offices are closed.  Such days will be considered part of the holiday weekend and staff will not be required to be in attendance.

Thanksgiving:  The Hennessey Public Library will close at 1 pm on the day before Thanksgiving.

Christmas Eve:  The Hennessey Public Library will close at 1 pm on Christmas Eve.
