What is FOL and What Does It Do?
Friends of the Hennessey Library (FOL) is a service group that supports the mission of the Hennessey Public Library with volunteers and fund raising activities.
Volunteering Is Frightfully Fun!
Every year FOL members find creative ways to involve themselves in library activiites. The Haunted Library is a favorite for young and old alike. Some FOL members solicit candy donations from the community; others come in costume and haunt the stacks. Other dress-up (or dressed down!) opportunites come with Preschool Storytime (Mother Goose has made her appearance along with the peddlar from Hats for Sale), Summer Reading (Dr. Michael and his traveling medicine show was a real hit!), and the Library Mystery Evening created especially for the Hennessey Public Library and FOL. Service Feeds the Soul...
Helen's Legendary Cider and a table warm with cookies from FOL ovens--it doesn't get any better than this! The Annual Christmas Open House is a special time for FOL members who greet and serve and share the warmth. Our cookie bakers are the best and provide for us year-round, bringing smiles through the crumbs for well-fed participants in Pre-school Storytime, Summer Reading Club, After-School, Mother/Daughter Book Club, and other library activities. FOL has also provided meals for visiting speakers, researchers, library workshop particants, and special guests. Hennessey hospitality is our forte.
